Longines Heritage 1973

Hot on the heels of its retro-styled Heritage 1968 watch, Longines has introduced another vintage-inspired model, the Longines Heritage 1973, a new chronograph watch with a cushion-shaped case, based on a historic Longines watch produced, of course, in 1973.

The original Longines watch on which the Longines Heritage 1973 designer watch is based was fitted with a mechanical chronograph movement, Caliber 30CH. The new watch also contains such a movement, the recently developed Longines Caliber L688, with automatic winding and a column-wheelchronograph, which is produced exclusively for Longines by ETA.

The Longines Heritage 1973′s period-appropriate curved case is made of stainless steel and measures 40 mm in diameter; the chronograph pushers are rounded. The bicompax dial, available in black or silvered versions, has two contrasting chronograph subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, black on the silvered dial and silvered on the black dial. Each of the dial’s applied hour indices is decorated with a fine black line and a dot of Super-LumiNova. Wreathing the dial is a minute circle composed of fine black lines (white lines on the black dial) and a tachymeter scale in blue.

The caseback of the Longines Heritage 1973 designer watch is fitted with a transparent sapphire window showing off the exclusive Longines caliber and its hallmark blue column wheel. Both the silvered dialed and black dialed models are mounted on a black alligator leather strap, and both retail for $3,250.
